The Knoydart Foundation Ranger Service reports that the suspension footbridge (NM866965) over the River Carnach has been closed as it is no longer safe – it is to be removed. There is a stated intention to replace the bridge, but no timescale has yet been given. Please note this is a dangerous river crossing and will usually be impassable without the bridge.

This loss of this bridge affects the Inverie to Glen Dessary Path – a right of way described in our book Scottish Hill Tracks and also promoted by our Heritage Paths project for its historic interest.
